Is it spongy? Locks up to easy? You may have to bleed them. There's no adjustment.

The pads need to get some wear on them. All nw brake pads do this some more and some less.
If they do not improve after 100 miles check them to make sure the piston isn't stuck.

Not sure of bike and what the replacement was. Probably an adjustment. If actual hydraulic components are still in place and original has to be mechanical linkage leading to that.

If a lot of travel at the pedal could be 2 things that I can think of off the top of my head.
One is the link is out of adjustment or air in the line. Air usually are soft and lets the pedal move farther. When putting in new brakes the pedal should feel closer to the top because the pedal will have to take care of the wear on the pads.
there may be other things that someone may add.

You read wrong I replaced my brake lever. With powder coated one. Not break pads.
