Default Exhaust question '05 older vs. '06 newer

If you've got an 05 and older bike you're probably noticing that exhaust options are slowing getting limited. My question is, will '06 to '08 WG exhaust fit on a '05 and older WG? Understanding that '06 is the year that the TC96 come out, but a forum member mentioned that the only difference would be the O2 sensor bungs. Is this correct? Can I get a set of 06+ pipes and put them on my '05 WG? Just plug the bungs?

That would really open up the options.

Thanks in advance.

True, 2006 and newer have 02 sensors that can be removed and plugged for use on 2005 and older bikes.

What really matters is that 2006 was also the year of the 6 speed transmission. This changed the bolt pattern for attaching brackets to the transmission. The oil filler neck was also moved, this is actually the biggest problem in fitting some of the newer exhausts.

And correct me if I'm wrong. Wasn't the 2006 a new frame as well?

Thanks for the info. I hadn't thought about the transmission getting involved and mounting points. Well, my dreams of a quick win and better pipe options has fizzled. I know there are some nice pipes out there for me. Wish Rinehart still had something that fit my bike....

Haha that can happen, hey at least you were still on the right website. And to the op some exhaust are more universal. I just got my bassani road rage and it shows fitment form 91-11, im guessing it all depends on how it mounts up to the trans.

As stated the pipes will bolt right up as far as the motor is concerned, difference will be the rear mount due to the trans change.
I run 08 pipes on my 05, I made my own mount when I built the pipes, not difficult at all.

It depends on the maker of the exhaust. Bassani does fit your bike.
However if you lower it expect them to scrap.
The main thing like another posted.I'd the oil filler. That would be your.main concern.
Making a mount is easy enough to do. Sometimes the maker does not do R&R on older bikes when they make new exhaust to fit newer bikes.
I suggest going to bike night, rallies to have a look and listen to see what will fit.
