Default 2010 dyna super mpg

ok I know this has got to be the most stupid thing ever but!!!
on my 2010 SGC 4.7 gal tank should get x amount of miles
but the low gas light comes on guage says nada. but can only pump about 3.5 gal of gas. what is the swag "silly wild *** guess"
on mpg for this bike. I have looked around the web it says 35 in town 50 or so hwy. now on my other bike VRSCR I know that I ride that bike like I stole it so I don't get the MPG that the book says. what do you guys get on your dyna?

If you read your manual, you will find that the light comes on with 1 gallon left.

When my light comes on and I can only add about 3.2 gal.
Screw the light and the gauge. My mileage averages between 42 & 46 mpg depending on how (2up) and where Im riding

your doing pretty good then, i don't see your problem. These guys that say 50 or 50+ mpg. are either #1 full of **** or #2 riding in Ideal highway conditions, i.e., perfectly flat with no wind.

I live in the mountains and I do alot of two up riding, so I only get around 35mpg on a good day.

One thing that I do when I get a bike is I run it out of fuel so I can have a idea how far I can go and how much fuel it will really hold. There are a lot of variables concerning mpg. I also live on a mountain, going up and down the mountain is what hurts my mileage.
I use the trip meter. The fuel guage sucks.
Once you learn what your over all mileage is you don't have to be concerned. The mileage on our WG with SS106 is around low of 36 and high is around 46. Depends on riding conditions. Hope this helps.

My 2012 Super Glide gets high 30's to low 40's with mostly non-highway riding. As for the gas--you can go a minimum of 25 miles after the light goes on with no worries.

I have an tank lift so my light goes on early now. I go by odometer anyways. I start looking for gas stations at 150 miles. I've gone 210 miles on a tank and filled up with 4.1 gallons all highway. City I get 35-42 and highway I get 47-50 ish.

About a week ago I rode with the intent on getting the fuel low light to come on so I have good idea of actually mileage to expect before the spring riding season hits. Just changed plugs, plug wires, installed K&N filter and Rinehart slip-ons. Have a lot of multi-day trips on tap and will be riding with mixed group of other bikes. Knowing fuel range for each bike helps us plan our stops.
Anyway, after 165 mi of mostly hwy riding the light has yet to come on. 165 mi with 3.89 gal fill-up averages +/- 42 mpg.
Using basic math (that's my limit) I figure at 175mi the light will be on. So the 160-165 mile mark is about as far as I want to go before looking for gas station. I don't want to run an FI bike w/fuel pump dry. In an emergency I figure I could go somewhere around 200+ before I'm out of gas.
Have read that 42 mpg is in the average range for the 96ci dyna.

As they say, your mileage may vary.

BTW: the HD manual for my 09 SGC (FXDC) states fuel tank capacity is 5.0 gal, did they make the 2010 tank smaller?
