Default For Those With Gators

Did you install them with the cowbells on or off the sliders? Do they even fit over them? I'll be installing a set when my sliders get back from Joe's and am curious as to what others have done.

Thanks in advance!

Pretty simple really, although it took me an hour due to screwing around with other stuff.

Slide the tubes out of the tree, slide the gaiters down the tube, stretch the gaiters over the dust caps, put the tubes back in and tighten everything up. A zip tie at the top of each gaiter holds it in place (although, I think they would stay in place without it.)

Haven't touched them since. Good cheap mod that looks nice. If you haven't bought them already, talk to Dallas at Cateye Customs. He's on the forum somewhere under the name CatEyeDallas. Good price, quick delivery and a nice guy.

Thanks SLV. The forks are apart, so I'll install the gators when I reassemble. I had a new-in-box set of 39mm black gators laying around for a while. Figured now was a good time.

I put my gators on without the dust covers. No problems yet.

Adding fork gators to my fxdx soon. how do you know what ones to get, some look way too long (like a dirt bikes fork boot) and some look like they might work, but if they're too short....well that would suck!

i have done both on your size forks, to be honest it depends on the gators... you can see on this softy standard we did i did pull the caps and run the boots over it, really all about how you want to do it
