Default Question about shifting/rpms

Hey guys just got my first harley 2013 hd1 street bob coming from a gsxr 750. First off love the bike it's awesome. Now I'm shifting into 2nd at about 15 mph n keeping the rpms under 3000 wondering if this is right n at what rpm are u guys shifting a stock bike at? Notice first rumbles a lot anything over about 15 mph. Any thought would be great

Under 3k is bit low, don't be afraid to wind it out a bit more than that. Is it bogging? Of course it rumbles...it's a V twin. Post up some pics of the new scoot and welcome!!

You'll be shifting a lot higher after the break-in. It sure is tough staying under that 3k mark. Your shift points will feal natural once your free of that restriction.

I haven't looked at my speed, but I shift between 3 and 4k rpm. Not as. a rule, just naturally. I rev higher when riding aggressively.

What you are doing seems right to you, but don't be afraid to use your rev range.

Ill post pics when I get home stuck at work. Bike is gorgeous. Yea the manual says keep it under 3000 till about 500 miles. Doesn't bog down to bad sometimes if I'm in to high a gear for my speed it'll bog n thump a little when getting on the gas. After the break in what range rpm you guys shifting? I've read so many mixed things about Harley's I don't wanna abuse it. How much abuse can these bikes take? Right now my shifts are about 15/25/35 ect all under 3k

easy riding, about 3200. when riding hard, anywhere above that. but i dont suggest that right now. let the engine break in more before ramping her up that high.

yep 3000 untill brake in and don't lug it . 2200 or up should be alright but I try to stay around 2500 mark . if the next gear will be below that just don't shift up if intown. lugging is hard on the crank bearings

Welcome from Ct.
After you've ridden it a while you'll hear when to shift, the sound of the engine will till you.
Take it easy for now, break it in. You'll do it without realizing you are.

Thanks for the help guys. I got about 30 miles on the bike it's been freezing here still trying to get out when I can. How easy is it to damage the crank bearings? How would u know if u messed something up? Sorry it's just a totally different feel than what I'm used to just don't wanna do anything stupid
