Adjust the throttle and idle cables. Might as well lube them while you are in there too.

Get some emory cloth like plumbers use and clean up your bars under the grip. My son just installed a set of Avons and had the exact issue. Don't use grease on the bars, it will only gum things up as it collects dirt.

Look inside the throttle grip for any glue leftover from the manufacture. My Kuryakyn ISO grips had some towards the end of the grip - unusable.

I just installed avons on mine last week and had the same problem. Turned out the grip was binding on the end of handle bar. Avons are a little shorter than stock grips. Loosen the 4 screws on on your switch assembly and move it out towards the end of handle bar, that should cure your problem.

+100

Make sure you adjust it per the manual too. What may work great with the bars pointed straight ahead may not work very well with the bars turned to the far right.

I put apes on my bike and worked on the cables for a couple of days until I friend of mine told me that I needed to lube them. Works great now.
