Screaming Eagle Stage 1 wrong 'gasket' for teardrop cover?
So I noticed an electrical cord dangling from the back of my new Stage 1 air cleaner (photo below) since it's a California model so I thought I'd take the cover off to see how I can tuck that back in so as not to bump up against the hot engine anymore, and I saw this lopsided 'gasket' (what do you call it?) that fits between the breather and the 96" teardrop cover and I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that this is the way it's supposed to be... I took it back to the shop and they acted like I was crazy. Am I? The pic from the website show a symmetrical version in their ad that looks right. The damn hole doesn't even line up in the center. WTF?
My guess is it takes up some gap between the filter and cover?
As far as the "cord" goes, I just zip tied mine to part of the throttle body if I remember right.
Yes, it is intended to fill the gap between the filter and cover... I just don't know what to call it... it just doesn't look right to me... It looks like the mold got screwed up on the assembly line and somehow passed inspection... it doesn't look like the one in the official website's picture at all. The one in the picture looks symmetrical like it's supposed to be...
thanks ... I got some zip-ties and was planning on doing that, so I'm on it. I really appreciate your input!
The 2 plates are different, the one you have shows a opening where as the photo does not. It may be the only difference.
...but the one in the picture LOOKS normal, with a normal perfect-circle ring that should fit perfectly under the cover, but my circle-ring is lopsided, and the hole in the middle is NOT centered.
