Default Drill out front hub okay to do??

Hey everyone,

Been a while since I've been on here, but I'm looking for some sage advice and I've always found it on the forum.

I'm looking to purchase a set of 13 spoke Dyna rims for my 2005 FXDL. The set I found has already been powdercoated (which I want) but the front wheel is for the 2000 - 2003 Dynas with 3/4" axle and my wheel uses a 1" axle.

Is it possible (safe?) to drill out the hub of the older wheel to accept my axle?

Thanks for your time!

We do it all the time. Bore it out. Did it to the rims on my sporty and have had no issues.

On most of the stock Harley rims the hole in the 3/4 hub portion of the wheel is smaller. Look up the thread by 07bobber. He did it. It is kind of random as some wheels already have a hole that is the right size.
