Default Tail Light Wiring Question

Whats going on everyone, My buddy wanted me to hook up a dual filament shock mount tail light. Its the exact same one I have on my 2011 SB. His is a 2007. So hes going from the squareback to side mount. The wiring harness is a little different only because the turns on mine are run, brake, turn. So anywho the tail light itself is two wire dual filament. It is internally grounded on the mount. So all I had to do for mine was attach the brake/run wires up and boom. With his it doesnt work. I will have to run the the ground through one of the two wires available. For those that have had a similar issue, i know there is a set up where you wire in a resistor in between the two wires, but i wouldnt know which one or where to start....any help would be awesome

Run a separate ground wire and attach it to the housing of the light. Ground the other end to one of the ground wires in your harness.

That is exactly what I did, I was not 100% sure if the assembly was already self grounded or not, so I ran a ground from the harness to the housing.
