I have an EFI 05 lowrider. I have access to a few older part number pro super tuners like 32109-08a and 32109-08b. They are still brand new, just been on the shelf for a few years. If I get ahold of one of these is there still software available for these or will the newest screaming eagle tuner software work for these older tuners? I know I can still get the cables for the tuners. Why are these tuners obsolete? Is there any updates for them? thanks

 

I don't think they are obsolete. They'll work with whatever ECM and connector they are compatible with.. not sure what year Harley changed it up. You're best bet (if you want the correct CD) is to hit up a dealership and have them look up the part number so you can find out.

 

'05 was the last year for 'open loop' EFI ... in '06 and later models, the EFI system is 'closed loop' ...

In a closed loop EFI system, there are O2 (oxygen) sensors that sample the exhaust gases and feed back into the EFI to increase or decrease the fuel, constantly adjusting the amount of fuel to the programmed AFR (air-to-fuel ratio) ...

With the earlier, open loop EFI, the MoCo created a pre-set program to account for varying conditions and lets the program run without any feedback from the exhaust ... hence the loop is not closed by feeding back information from the exhaust gases ...

Although the hardware and software may be susceptible of mating, I am of the opinion that the tuners (which were made for the newer, closed loop systems based on the -08 extension that designates the year) would not operate as designed if you attempt to use it with the earlier '05 bike ...
