Default Anti Sieze and Thread Locker

Need some advice. Was wondering if any of you apply anti-sieze or lock-tite (medium) to your drain plugs (tranny, oil, primary)? Also, several of the screws on my primary inspection/clutch cover were rusted. Never experienced that before. Need to get new Torx screws. I applied anti-sieze to them the last time, but something caused them to rust. Thank you.

I use loctite thread sealant on drain plugs. Can't help you with the rusted screws but I use anti sieze on the derby, inspection and primary bolts.

I find it funny when I find bolts installed at the factory that don't have thread locker on them even though the service manual calls for it. Like my riser bolts. However, I never put thread locker on any bolt with a lockwasher or locknut...it's redundant.

Service manual calls for threadlocker on the primary screws, but I disagree and just torqued them properly...there's a lot of them holding that cover on...even if a couple came loose, nothing would happen. Manual DOESNT call for threadlocker on the drain plugs but they had put some on from the factory. Go figure. I did put locktite on the primary and trans drain plugs cuz I won't be unscrewing them for another 10K. Did not put any on the engine drain plug cuz I'm gonna be unscrewing it a lot more often. It's probably totally unnecessary on drain plugs though as long as theyre torqued. I've never had a drain plug fall out on any vehicle.

Thread lock on those items can be overrated. Especially if your following service interval precedures.

Agreed...that's what the book say, that's what I do! As for rust...I replaced all the primary and derby cover bolts with 18-2 stainless socket head allens. Problem solved! FYI, the primary cover lengths are 9 @ 1 3/8" and 4 @ 4"! You can get away with 1 1/4" bolts as they get plenty of thread purchase. Torque them to 120 inch pounds! They look better than stock and no rust! Don't forget flat washers!
