Default Questions Re: 13 Spoke Mags on Street Bob

So again, I'm sure 07bobber hates me because we're going to end up with the same bike eventually, he always beats me to it (or has a more understanding wife ) I'm ready to start looking into 13 spoke mags for my 07 Street Bob, I've read all of the pages of his 2 threads about the wheels but had a couple more questions:

I want to do dual disk brakes up front eventually, but for now I'll just run the wheels until I'm ready to tackle that.

1) Can I run the mag wheels with my stock Street Bob rotor/caliper with no issues? (Maybe just a different spacer for the different wheel?)

2) Could I add the second rotor also WITHOUT the caliper just for looks without any issues (again, maybe just different axle spacer size).

3) The Fat Bob right fork lower is for the right brake caliper correct, or is it additional clearance for the rotor also?

4) It seems Sportster mags work also, but I'm curious as to why I'm seeing Dyna mags for $400 each and an 883 Iron for $75 with the same measurements? Are the Sportster wheels some unspoken secret or are they **** quality? As long as there is a 1 inch axle I'm good right?

Basically it comes down to the fact that I just want to get a pair of wheels and slap them on, and not mess around with new brake parts for now. I'm sick of scrubbing brown spots off of spokes and shining chrome wheels so the mags will be for looks at this point in time.

The 13 spoke front takes a different rotor but uses the same caliper. Rotor PN is 44553-06A The rear uses the same rotor and caliper as the spoked wheel

Thanks. If I ran the right side rotor with no caliper for a while, I wouldn't have to change my right lower fork correct?

Nope, but your spacers will be off for the axle. Also you will have to make sure you have correct wheel bearings. I forget what year bike you have but I would jut runs the one caliper form now plus it would give you more run view up front. Then when you do brakes you canadd the rotor I would suggest doing the brembo touring upgrade while addi dual brakes to the bob also stiffer springs due to increAse in stopping power.

I'm gonna have to paint my bike or something...

The sporty wheels will work but they are a little different dimensionally than the older dyna mags

Ha, maybe a nice shade of pink?

I've actually recently been thinking about getting an FXDX or FXDXT if I could find one.

The few things left that I want to do to my Street Bob (dual guages on the bars, mag wheels and dual disk brakes) are going to be a bitch, and they come stock on the older bikes. But I like that 96" and 6 speed....there was a 103" built FXDP for sale in New Jersey for a good price and I'm still really thinking about it...

Is that the 18" shield on your rifle roadster? Looks a lot taller than 07bobbers

This is coming together sooner than I anticipated. Always happens...everytime I start scraping together parts for one project, a deal falls in my lap. I picked up a rear mag for $90 in perfect condition, just gotta keep my eyes open for a front and I'll be in a business. I'm going to do Intiminators, new front springs, dual brakes and wheels all in one swoop so everything only has to be torn down once. Should have some updates in a few weeks...

i put the 13 spoke mags on my 2011 streetbob thanks to 07bobbers threads as well.
Sportster wheels work fine. i used a set off an 03 sportster, there the same dimensions as the old dyna mags. i think the dimensions of the new sportster wheels have changed.
i also used my stock rotors front and rear no problem. and i cant think of any reason why you cant run the second rotor, shouldnt effect your axle spacers either.
