Default Tank emblem removal

I plan on swapping my tank emblem out for a decal this coming week. I was just wondering how difficult it is to remove the emblems and if there are any differences in the paint under it or anything like that? The decal is attached to the thread. Thanks

I haven't tried it, but lots of folks here have, and no-one complained about discolored paint underneath. Try this link:

I thought you could remove the emblems with denim black. I was planning on doing this tonight.

It is a new bike so now is the time.

i had the dealer remove mine off my bike before I even took ownership of it and you can still see the marks.

its not bad but in the right light you can see the outline, and you cant buff them out with flat paint

I took mine off my Vivid Black Wide Glide and you can't tell they were ever there. Mask off the paint around the emblem, heat it up with a heat gun or hair dryer and peel it off.

Heat gun and fishing line. Put pressure on the line towards the back of the emblem NOT the tank when "sawing" between the two.

Another method I use is to heat it up with a heat gun, slightly lift the end of the emblem away from the tank and blow air from the the compressor behind it. Make sure you have a hold on the emblem though;-)
