Default Buy Wide Glide or Super Glide

Ok, I'm gonna get my wife a bike and don't want to break the bank, she loves the Dynas and have found a 2003 WG in awesome condition and a 2007 SG in the same condition., both with around 10k miles. The WG has all the extras she wants (fwd controls, tall handle bars, Seattle bags) but the SG had the 96ci motor/6 speed transmission. So, the big question is which to buy? I can buy the things she wants for the SG, but is there something I'm missing? Is there really THAT big of a difference in the two bikes?
Thanks in advance.

Cool

I personally would choose the 96/6 speed over the 88/5 speed.
Forward controls are nice and can be expensive but not as much as an engine and tranny upgrade.
Plus the SG is 4 years newer.

By the 2007, it was a good year for the dyna's and the 96 and 6 speed are well worth it

We have a 2010 wide glide (wife's bike) and a 05 super glide (my bike).
My wife prefers mine to hers as for comfort but she prefers the looks of hers. If they both are in the same price range the 96ci and 6 speed would have my vote.
However it being for your wife. She needs to chose. Never make a decision for a woman.

I would say the biggest things would be the 6 speed also the Sg is fuel injected ( you never mention of Wg is fuel injected) I would pick fuel injected over carbed just because it's easier to deal with.

I agree with dirtdobber, she needs to choose or it will be your fault if she doesn't like it! HAHAHA. Taller handlebars can be added easily. Though the WG is a 100th anniversary and no doubt a sweet bike to have. I would suggest the super glide in my opinion. The increased rake of the wide glide will make parking lot maneuvering and twisty roads a bit more difficult for her. That said I own a 07 street bob and I'm very fond of it. I don't think I could have gotten any other bike to suit me as well. Its very versatile bike. Minimalist look for around town and short runs, still capable of long touring runs with a few minor add ons. I would also rather spend my coin on the bike with the 96ci 6speed. hope this helps. Good luck and let us know what you decide!!

I think if she fits well on one, she'll fit well on the other. I also think in the long run she'll appreciate the 96ci, the 6 speed, and the fuel injection on the SG. And if she loves the mini apes, forwards, and bags on the WG, those are easy mods to do on the SG. The SG will also handle a little better than the WG.

I stand corrected. Though more what I meant was FI didn't come standard on any harley before 07, anything before that is hit and miss. I got a buddy with an injected 03 deuce but its the 95" screamin eagle engine, and its a softail which they started doing more softails in 01 but not dynas until 04. Chances are its carbed but yes, it MIGHT be FI.

That could be another down fall. I taught an ex how to ride and she occasionally would have issuses with the choke, flooding it out ect. Its hard for them to listen to what the bike is doing and to know how to respond to the issue... and the fuel shut off valve is a whole other story
