Default Screwed up my oil change trying a long filter

I decided to go with the long oil filter this time around like I've done before on a different bike. When I bought the filter from the dealer, the parts guy asked me, "For what kind of bike?" "09 Dyna" "OK, black or chrome?" . . . Turns out, the Crank Position Sensor (CKP) is in the way. Barely.

Looks like I could shave a 1/16" off the top of the rubber fitting on the CKP, and the filter would just slide right by it. But I don't think I want to go there. Next thing I know, I would end up ruining the CKP, and then replacing that, and going back to the short filter in the end.

Anyone else here tried using longer oil filters on later model Dynas? I'll probably just break down and buy a short filter, but I kinda like the idea and theory behind the benefits to the long ones.

By the way, the other 2 fluid changes were successful.

Yea I know, but already have the long one and was hoping maybe it could work. I can't get a short one around my neck of the woods unless it's an orange Fram filter.

Its one screw. Pull the crank sensor and use the long filter.

I switched to the K&N chrome filters that have the 17-mm hex head. Bought them a dozen at a time thru Amazon. Not having to remove the CKP (Road King), or squeeze the CKP (Dyna) with a normal filter cap wrench is a huge benefit. Just plug a 17-mm socket on a 6-8 inch extension/ratchet and you're golden.

I can see the intuitive temptation to go with more filtering area, and more oil volume, but if ya change every 3000-4000 miles, even these small looking filters have plenty of filtering medium to catch all the bad guys generated in that much riding. If it WERE to somehow get plugged in that amount of use, your motor's got bigger problems.
