Planning an 800 mile trip from NM-CA
Family is planning a trip to Disneyland and I am planning riding the Wideglide with factory seat. I don't find the factory seat uncomfortable, but haven't rode over an hour to date. So the big question is, what tips or suggestions you long trippers have to a newb of the long haul riding? A new seat isn't in the budget, so any 'ol timer tips would be greatly welcomed!

Depending how much time you have before your trip, you may want to give Mean City Cycles a hollar.
They are out of Maiden, NC, and reform and refoam your current seat. Had them do my stock seat on my VTX, and was a huge improvement for an affordable amount of money.
Check out their website, but Alan knows his stuff!(I think that was his name)

I rode 300 miles on the stock seat. Was not comfortable. It wasn't so much the seat as it was the lack of back support that killed me. Maybe put a bag on the passenger seat so you can lean against it and maybe a sheep skin cover for your actual seat. I think those 2 things would help a lot. Good luck with the trip. Be safe and take breaks when needed.

Wal-Mart sells a gel pad for car seats for about $20. It's GREAT. Last fall, I rode a 2004 FXD 933 miles in one (very long) day from NC to TX on a stock seat with a gel pad. As stated before, a windshield will do wonders for your stamina. I bought a cheapo one-fits-all model off of Ebay for $50. It was pretty much trashed by the time I got home, but it did the trick. I had no storage, but wore a backpack on my flight out to NC. I had two large re-closeable Monster Energy cans filled with gas in it and had to get into one of them on the trip.
Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate. Crossing Death Valley is exciting and not so hard if you're prepared.
I'm doing Dallas to Albuquerque (day 1) then Albuquerque to Vegas (day 2) in late July for about 1,200 miles, but I'll be on my Roadie. Piece of cake compared to the Wide Glide.
You can do it and you can rightfully crow about it when it's done. Keep us posted!
