I'm wanting to put a tach on my bike, but I don't want it on the risers, and aint gonna spend what they want for the speedo/tach replacement for my factory speedometer.

I was thinking about getting this one and mounting it to one of the rocker box bolts.

I've seen countless oil pressure gauges mounted this way, but not sure a cheap tach would hold up to the vibration.

Also wondering where would be the best place to find the "pink" wire needed for the tach.

I think if I was going to add a tach I would want it easy to see when moving. Looking down to see it would be a problem with me. IMO.

 

I second that.. I hate looking down at my little tiny tach on my speedo.. That thing needs to go. I too, would also like to know how to install one.

 

install is very easy , its 4 wire . black ground , red power , white headlights , green input goes to pink on most models but that's using the autometer
