Default 12 wide glide handlebar help

ok so i started to take apart the handlebars and my question is....where do u take apart the wires that fish tru the bars? do i have to cut the wires and solder them back together or what? 55977-09 is the harley part # of the bars that are gonna go on the bike.

You can do either...Depending on what bars you choose, the connectors are small enough on your 12 that you may be able to pull them with the connectors intact. I have done it all three ways...

Get a service manual if you don't already have one. It'll show you where to disconnect the wires etc. All of it is going to be in the frame under the gas tank.

I pulled mine out of the neck of the frame and unplugged them. I was able to pull the connectors out and through my new bars then just plug them back in.

I believe 2011s had Molex connectors. They require a little more time but I like the much better than the new CanBus crap...

thanks guys! i just didnt pull the wires out far enough to see the molex plugs. heres a few pics of the bike.
