Helmet Keeps flying back....
Hey Guys!!
I thought I'd post my question here cause most the guys in the touring section have fairings :-)
I like to ride with no windshield some.... and my helmet always wants to fly half off / backwards and choke the crap out of me!!! (half shell)
I do OK until about 65mph... and 65-80 that sucker just won't stay put. I fold a couple paper towels and put under the sweat band to make it really tight on my head, and pull the chin strap tight, but it always wants to fly back.
I had a Heritage before, and the same thing would happen when I pull the shield off.
I thought this would be a good place to ask, how in the world do you keep your helmet put on freeway speeds!?!?!?!?! Would a 3/4 helmet be better? It gets so dang hot here! That's why I go with the half.
Thanks guys!

First, your bike if freaking sweet. I could really dig a bagger that looks like that.
Second, in my opinion, your helmet is either too big, or the model is just not deep enough. The Bell Drifter, Pit Boss, and Shorty models all have a deeper fit than some of the other brands. The right (snug) fit is important.
A 3/4 will help, but a loose fit will still have it tugging on your throat.

Yeah, it is too big. Ordered it online, and it came in a little big. Not a big deal with the windshield. Like I said, I snug it up by added a few folder paper towels in the lid, and it's great....
Thanks for the advice..... I guess I'm on the hunt for a new helmet.... I have about 5 in the garage haha

either tooo big or the inside padding has become old an useless
or the d rings are not holding
does it have a clip or does it run threw d rings ?
i had this problem with the helmet when i used the drings
i got one of those helemt quick connect clasps , and it solved my problem
it made the helmet much tighter, and the strap more secure
the rings just didnt hold good enough, and always got lose now an then, but this worked for me !!
this is the one i got
and can be re-used on other helmets when changed or needed

But yeah, I've only used quick releases for a few years now... I don't think I could ever go back to jacking with fishing the strap every time I ride....
Thanks tho!
