Default Bike runs normal...with full choke

So I've been riding my FXDL a little here and there since winter broke, and even when it's warmed up, if I push the choke in, the bike seems like it's going to die at idle. I'm a motorhead so I'm sure I can fix whatever the problem is, but I know hot rods and this is my first v-twin so I just need your guys help to point me in the right direction.

Have you adjusted the idle when its warm? If you have then I would look at the carb to manifold rubber.

Did you leave it stored with ethanol fuel? If so, you may have phase separation. Drain and refill the tank and see if that helps.

spray check with carb cleaner around intake rubber and heads for vacuum leak the engine would die down with the choke being on . if ok remove carburetor bowl you will probably find some crap in the bowl. give it a good cleaning with cleaner and compressed air and set your mixture screw. my friends acted the same way last year. after the clean ran like a champ.

if it sat most of the winter without being ridden, your pilot jet is plugged. could have an intake leak too but i would put money on the pilot jet, if its running normal with the choke and wants to die without it, then its lean, a pilot jet not supplying fuel would for sure cause that.

so pretty much test for a vacuum leak, and clean out the pilot jet, then run a new tank of gas?
