Default Help High idle and check engine light

first off 2013 Fat bob less than 600 miles on the bike completely stock. while riding today felt like the bike had cruise control pulled in the clutch and the RPMS went to almost 3k pulled off the road thought maybe high temp or something (sorry still a newbie) but let it cool down started the bike fired right up and went to 2500 rpm and the engine light came on.

brought the bike home tried the reset of turning the bike off and on and no change.

any ideas what this might be the dealer is picking it up tomorrow I just dont want to be fed a bunch of bs.

There is usually no simple answer to EFI woes like this. Let them sort it out. Its unlikely that they will tell you anything about what caused it as they are always scared of litigation and precedents.....so long as its fixed you'll be happy :-)

the dealer will check the dtc with scan tool and take the diagnostic route to fix the concern. could be IAC motor, TPS sensor or maybe one of the two rubber vacuum caps came off the nipples on the top of the throttle body causing a vacuum leak, ecm would see the lean condition and add fuel that will raise the idle. don't worry its warranty

Bottom of the throttle housing. Check the diagnostics for any history codes.

I had a problem with mine goint to about 1700 to 1800 last fall. I took it in and found out there's a setscrew or similar on throttle body and instead of backing out it had worked it's way in keeping throttle blade open. Seems to be a common problem on 12 models but this is first 13 I've heard of. And may not be that at all.

Not to start an argument however this is copied and pasted from a thread I began after the very same experience and yes it did code from riding it like that:

Oh sorry man, I was so busy I forgot to share the results.
Yes I took it to the dealer and it was about a 15 minute fix. There apparently is an idle or Throttle stop screw or something like this which should have been set with loctite but was not and this caused the problem.
With mine the exact idle speed was inconsistant. Sometimes as low as 1500 and on my way over I couldn't get it to drop below 2200. When I went to demonstrate it to the Service Advisor it seemed stuck at 1700.
Generally from the begining of the problem the idle was all over the map but never back down to under 1100 like it should be.
Now it is all good and the was no charge of course.
Bob
The good news is it took only 15 minutes while I waited and no charge.
Bob
