Default Oil problem on new-to-me bike

Just pick edthis guy up yesterday, 2012 WG, used, from a dealer in CT. Got in late last night and registered it this morning.

20 mile joy ride around town today and I get home to this. I *think* its water in the oil. Any ideas?

FYI the deal is 5 hours away in CT, I'm in NY, so taking it back to them isn't that easy. Warranty is good till August

Its moisture from condensation, its pretty common and usually from not being ridden enough to get the oil up to operating temp and burning off the moisture. You should take it for a ride to get the oil nice and hot at least 15 miles or so ( but the longer the better) the. Change the oil and filter and that will get a lot of it out but you will still have some of the milky stuff hanging around in the motor so then make sure when you ride it to ride it lon enough to get the oil hot, the main cause of that is usually from people ride 2 miles to the store and back and then parking the bike or in the winter time starting it up in the garage and then shutting it of. The only way its all gonna get cleaned out is to ride it for long periods of time. Like i said its really common with bikes that dont get a lot of miles put on them.

Change the oil and filter, go for a 40 or 50 mile ride. You could also have some condensation in the tranny.
If it's under factory warranty you can take it to any dealer.

OK thanks. I thought it was going to be a big issue.

Yes it came out the AC, a large volume of it too. covered the entire right side of the bike and left a few good puddles in my driveway

I called the dealer I bought it from, they said they would cover an oil change at my local dealer, so I took it straight to them. My Uncle's brother in law is the Service manager there so I know him a bit. I showed him the pics and he said it may need two or three changes to get all the water out, riding it and getting it hot in between. I told them do anything and everything they wanted to it because it was on the other dealers dime or under warranty.

I would make sure they are not over filling the oil as well.

Yes I was thinking about that. I would assume a Harley dealer knows how much oil to put in a motor. But maybe the water boils and expands the oil or something who knows, its in different/better hands now.

Default Oil In The Breather

Usually there are only 2 reasons for oil to be in the breather...one is overfilling the oil tank and the second is riding the **** out of your bike.
Are you riding it like you stole it ?
