At first my bike is a FXDX Dyna sport 2005 EFI model

now it's a Carb bobber , almost everything has been changed

Whell , PM brakes , MIKUNI-42, ALTMANN ignition ...


next --> I was thinking for a new cam to change my chain cam to a new EASY T+START GEAR CAM ( S&S 551 Easy Start )

i was dreaming for a long time for a KICK STARTER so I think it's time now withe the MIKUNI and Altmann ignition mod

found one to fit my 2005 dyna on AMERICAN-CLASSIC MOTOR

but ...

--> a friend of mine said , that I will not succed to start with the kick and the EASY START cams ... because of the dynamique compression missing with the Esay Start cams !!!

don't understand really this ,.


Do you have more news about KICK and Esay Start cam together ?

I had a buddy put a kicker on his 05 wide glide, it worked and the cam train was all stock

 

yes ...stock , or cam gear ( without the S&S Esay Start system ...)

because when START-UP , the intake valve stays a bit opened by the cam , still the engine starts , ~ 900 T/mm

after these revs , the easy cam is like a normal gear cam.

the sustem is re-armed , when the engine is shut-down.

 

I would call S&S directly on something like this, they were great to me on a different issue.

Let us know what they say, interesting mod.

 

Sounds like a great project. Are you going to use the Baker kicker they designed for twin cams? F6K I believe.

400$ I didn't need a strong model for the 88ci , as I was thinking to mod my cam chain with the latest S&S Easy Start gear cams.

but , now ... ! ! !

KICK is on its way ... so I am waiting for , and look how it works with the stock cams first.

 

I would suspect it would be possible to start the bike with ez start cams with the kicker, but probably not ideal. I have auto decomp on my fully built dirt bike which has similar centrifugal auto decomp setup as the S&S cams do. However I am not kicking over 1500ccs and a primary so I dont have the resistance that you would have to overcome thru the kicker. I would call S&S to confirm as well. S&S still offers their standard grinds in NON EZ start, which will be fine for your bike since you didnt mention running high compression pistons or big bore.

Your bike looks looks really nice post more pics! Electric start is a great thing!

Did you get the kicker working with altmann ignition? Do you use crank sensor?
