Default 2013 Fatbob locks up when starting hot

I ride a 2013 fatbob I purchased last october. When I ride she starts fine, except whenI stop for a short stop, say for gas. WhenI restart she acts like she is getting a vapor lock. The engine wont turn and the computer shsows some sort of message like "V inver" . The computer clears out, clock ect and goes to odometer mode. Then I retry and she usually starts fine? I told my dealer about it, they didn't have a clue. Ha anybody had the similar problem? Any help?

On my 2010, occasionally when doing a short stop, she would crank over sometimes slowly but not fire up. No warning lights but leave it a few seconds and she fired up perfectly. No fault codes were ever stored so nobody new why.

Sorry I can't tell you what it is man. Not had it on my 2013...........yet!

Sounds like it could be an ecm communication code... did you have it in for diagnosis and they said they found nothing?

Default Hot Starts

Don't wait for the fuel pump to prime when it is hot...Just hit the run button then the start. Works every time on mine.

Nah, just mentioned it when it was in for a service and they said no faults showed up. It didn't do it very often and can't recall any patern to it
Forgot to mention that it did cough and splutter. Wait a few seconds and then it was fine.

Hmmm... perhaps a fuel issue? Fuel brand? Maybe its a new station or new tank at the station with a bad batch of gas?

I do what those guys said! I asked a guy who's done a lot of work on Harley's locally and he doesn't know what causes that either. What he does know is that it is very common, even though HD says to wait for the fuel pump to stop and the engine check to be done we fire it up on contact and it works.

My 12 SB does it too. And like others have said just hit it before the pump primes.
