Default Ran low on gas. Big miss now...

Ran it down to Reserve20 and it popped once pullin in the station. Always ran Amoco Ultimate since build. Heavy modded $20K 113" motor. Not one fault in 8K miles, now it just pops and backfires and shuts almost completely off sometime, never dies tho. Sux to ride. Tried fuel cleaner and no help. Does something need bled or does it go to the dealer? thanx...T

First thing to try is open your gas cap, and look on the left hand side rear of the tank. Disconnect the fuel line quick connect, be careful to hold it flush when you put it back on do it once or twice especially if you feel some grit on your fingers, there will only be three or four drops of fuel lost, finally connect it and fire it up. It may be just that simple.

That would be my call as well especially on carb'd bikes where you would need to also clean out the float bowl. On fuelie motors like yours you'll need to clean all the lines as you could have clogged up the fuel rails and perhaps something got as far as the jets. My hint is the popping symptom.

You only have 8,000 miles and you always used good gas so I doubt it is anything serious, assuming the tank was clean after the engine build. Let us know if it worked out for you. should be a 5 minute fix. The longest part will be getting the smell of gas off your fingers!

First thing.....your bike is injected. You don't have reserve, like they do on carbed bikes.
