Default Looking to get a Super Glide. Some ?'s

Greetings,

Currently on a sport bike, used to have a Yam Roadstar and want to go back to a cruiser.

I've always liked the look of the Super Glide. Love the cast rim and how the gauges are not on the tank, but on the handlebars. I DO NOT like the matte silver look of the engine. Prefer the blacked out engine w/ chrome heads much more.

Would it be easier to get a Street Bob and convert the tank / gauges to the Super Glide setup, or get a Super Glide and get the blacked out engine? I'm guessing the Street Bob is the way to go.

Also of concern....

Now coming from a sport bike, I've learned to really appreciate good brakes / suspension / ground clearance.. Can the SB / SG be setup w/ good brakes? I'm guessing the suspension can be tweek'ed w/ new shocks and fork springs / cartridge emulators and what not.

Appreciate your time. Thanks!

Dude, when's the last time you've been to the harley dealer and looked at bikes?
They only make the superglide custom which is the chrome spoke wheels, the gauges are on the tank, the engine is blacked out and the heads are chrome.

The suspension and brakes are crap but can be upgraded. On a new bike figure 1500 bucks to do the stage one engine performance upgrade, 850 for the suspension, and whatever you want to do to the brakes would be more.

Take a look at the dyna fat bob as they already have the dual brakes up front.

Ya gotta get out more....

He never said he is buying brand new. What he is explaining is a super glide(which is what he said), not a super glide custom....

You need an FXDX.

Comes with dual discs and the black motor made from 00-05.

Thanks for the help, and yes, I'd easily consider buying used.

Staying on that theme, would the suggestion be to buy an SG used and build it to what I want, or get a new SB w/ cast wheels and modify it w/ the SG tank and gauge cluster?

There's an HD dealer about 3 miles from where I work that I hit on a somewhat frequent basis. My buddy just bought an RG Custom from there. Nice bike, but BIG.

I have both bikes and yes, they are VERY different rides. The SG is probably HD's best value for the buck. It's a great canvas to begin with and personalize. I picked up the SG in my sig pic with only 1046 miles on it and made it mine. I love riding it.

The Road Glide is my touring bike and it can't be beat on long rides.
