Default Is tail light relocation necessary for bags, sissybar, rack etc?

Hello all.

Do all installations of bags, sissybars, and racks require the relocation of my tail lights? Or are there options available that will allow me to keep the stock placement?

I browse through the various product pages and see notes such as "Note: Turn signal relocation may be required." or "Turn signal relocator bracket included (if necessary)".

Depends.. If you are looking to add the MoCo's quick detach style kit... you can afterwards, use a variety of back rests, luggage racks, saddle bags etc.. that dont require you to move the rear tailights from their stock location(s).. the kit simply uses the rear tailight stalks as the rear mounting hardpoint for the system..

For Harley's detachable sissy bar you will need to add an extending stud set up for the turn signals on a Super Glide.

It isn't difficult, will require extending the wiring.

If you decide to do it, post here or send a note for some hints.

I just put on a all in one tail light when I did my sissy bar. It just gives the bike that much more of a cleaner look

My bike is a Super Glide.

Sounds like it varies depending on the accessory that is added.

Typically, if the ad says ". . . turn signal relocation may be required." Then it will be! On a Superglide, unless the bag is a small solo, a throw-over, or designed with an OEM signal cutout, you're gonna have to relocate. My bike is basically a Superglide Sport (FXDP) and I purchased a set of Saddlemen Drifter bags that, in the pic, showed them on a Superglide without signal relocation. I thought "That's what I need!" so ordered a set. Come to find out, no way they'd fit without signal relocation. But to their credit, the bag kit did include signal relocator brackets, which I had to wire/use in order to mount the bags.

I did add a fender-mounted rack without relocating anything, however.

Depends on what you go with. Not all bags require turn signal relocation.

Does anyone have an idea of what bags are available that don't require turn signals to be relocated for any FXD?
