Default Interchangeability between 1997 FXD and 2000 FXD

I am looking at picking up an Evo. I currently have a 2000 FXD and am looking at a 97 to move to the Evo platform. I would like to replace wheels, brakes, controls, etc.

Does anyone know if you can swap out the mag wheels, rotors, pulley, etc off a 2000 with the spoke wheels from an early Evo 97 FXD with the stock parts, or is this an endeavor? The microfiche shows they share many parts and frame, but there is enough differences that give pause.

I like the components of the 00 and later bikes, I just would prefer the older engine.

Pre 2000 wheels have Timken bearings and will require different spacers. Also the center holes in rotors and pulley's are smaller on stock parts from 1999 and earlier. As far as pulley width and amount of teeth I left my chart at work. 2000 is a 70x1 1/8 but I don't know what it is on a 97. The bearings will be 3/4" on both wheels. You can probably get the spacers from your 2000 and use those with the wheels off the 2000 to put them on the 97. Reuse the rotors and pulley (assuming the pulley is the right size) on the 97". If you have to use the pulley and rotors off the 97 have the centers turned out at a machine shop.

To be clear. I am wanting to swap it all from my 2000 and put it all on the 97. And then just throw all the 97 parts on the 2000. So I am thinking as long as the swing arm is the same and front forks are, it would be an easy swap.

Oh and brakes too, so not sure if the rear mounts for the different brakes would work. But I could and would just swap the whole front end if need be.

If I every go see the guys 97 I will compare them visually to see if they look likes it would all work. I am sure you could make it work with money and time. I am just trying to do an easy and quick swap of all parts.
