kinda decided on the hd heavy breather for my stage one upgrade... from what ive read the performance is there and I really like the look.. except for the red filter... anybody make a black one?... was also wondering about the metal filter covers that are available... do they diminish the performance of the heavy breather?

 

Depends on what you get I would think.
The K&N is red because the oil is red. I like the small round chrome one that is $45 and add a washer behind the cover to push it out some. Good performance and good looks.
No rain problem with it either.

Yes they have it in black.

Funny, while I was searching, someone fixed the link...

 

You could dye the filter any color you want just clean it real good to get all the oil out get a pack of fabric dye and follow the instructions. I did it once in black but i had to do it twice to gat a good dark color.
