Default Has anyone upgraded the manifold/throttle body?

I have upgraded my 96" to the FM 107" with TW555 cams, 2-1 pipes, K&N a/c, and tmax as a tuner. Do I need to consider upgrading the throttle body from the stock 46mm to something larger (S&S)?

I know FM polish and port a stock TBW touring throttle body but looks like the increase in hp/tq is marginal. So wondering if something I need to consider as I have increased bore, exhaust, a/c but kept the TB stock. Havent found any research on pros/cons.

Thanks,
Don

You should try headwork first.

Don't really want to up the compression as the quality of gas can be suspect once I get out of Manila.

Talk to Eric or Jimmy ay horsepower inc. They can rework your throttle body or one that hpi makes depending on what you need .

A sidebar, later down the road, I plan on doing the FM 107 upgrade, how do you like yours? Noticeable difference?

to answer your original question, All the TB does is supply ai/ fuel mixture. So don't bother with your TB until you have your heads done.

LOL thank you johnnyjellybeans! of course air too!

I went from 96" to 103" and had some head work done. Went with Woods 777 cams. I removed the stock TB and installed the SE 50 mm unit. Came with all of the sensors/actuators as well as the higher flowing injectors that a higher output engine is going to require.

If you go with a larger tb, is a stage 1 ac too restrictive to see the benefits?
