Default Dyna ECM confusion...

I posted this elsewhere on HDForums but I think I posted in the wrong place. Hope this double post is not offensive.

I purchased a used 2005 Dyna Low Rider from a HD dealership. The dealer gave me a print out of the work they did on the bike when they took it in on trade.

One item is part number 2203348 which is described as "kit-superpower ECM 400/450." When I asked about it, the dealership told me that it was an "ECM flash." I Googled this part number out of curiosity and it appears to be an actual ECM for a Polaris ATV.

I checked under the seat and there is a Harley ECM with part number 32498-05 there. I believe this is the correct ECM for my bike.

Doe anyone have any idea what part 2203348 could be? Maybe the wrong part number was entered? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

According to my search, 32498-05 should be original equipment ECM for your bike. I'd suggest going back to the dealer an have them confirm the download.

Maybe that number is just the record of the computer flash and not a physical part.

I would imagine its the part number they gave for the reflash. It isn't really a part but needed something to put in the computer

When a flash is done it requires a part number or it did not happen.
it is to keep records straight, and prof of a service you may say.
There is no physical part just a down load.

Just like ordering a Program for your PC or computer it may be just a download but has a (part) number.

Thanks all. Your responses make sense. And I do plan to ask the dealer for a better explanation but I thought I'd go into that exchange with as much knowledge as possible.

Thanks again.

HD is in the process of changing their part number scheme, it looks like that number is a new number which is probably why it does not come up correctly.
If everything runs right, don't pet the sweaty stuff, just go ride it.
