Do you use synthetic engine oil? A lot of people including me hear sounds like that when using synthetic oil.

Does the sound change with engine speed, road speed or does it happen all the time? Any gear/gears in particular?

the sound seems to be coming from the top of the motor on the primary side of the bike the noise increases with the engine rpm but can be heard in all gears bike uses synthetic. You hear it once the engine warms up but once it cools off a little it goes away until the engine heats back up.

Has it always done this or is this new? If new, have you made any changes recently?

from my readings on this forum and my own experience, if it sounds like a sewing machine... it is typical to a TC 96 valve train running synthetic. If its a distinct metallic noise (TIC TIC TIC)...that's pinging and go see a mechanic if you haven't made any mods, if you changed anything on the engine like cams, a good tune (adjusting spark as required ) will make ping go away, but to be on the safe side whatever was changed and how it was changed should be reviewed as well. Cheaper then an engine rebuilt

good luck
