Default OMG what a racket!

This probably should go under the general discussion forum, but I am lazy and you are the guys and gals I chat with most often....

So I got a speeding ticket on the 41 near Lemoore. Didnt think it was that big of a deal, cop wrote it up for 65 in a 55, I was actually doing 71.

Well I just paid the fine over the phone: $311.95! That includes a $12 convenience fee for using my CC and a fee for enrolling in Drivers Safety School, which doesnt actually enroll you in the course, it just gives you the option to enroll in a course and get the point taken off your record. I just completed the online course, and that was another $30.

It has been years since I got a ticket and I sure as hell dont remember it being that expensive! With these outrageous fees how is any state struggling with their budget!!!!!!

Sorry, just had to blow of some steam. I plan on becoming a Trooper when I retire from the Navy, I am not giving out any speeding tickets!!!!!!! Well, to Harleys anyway, lol.

Mine last speeding ticket was about 4 years ago. With the defensive driving class it was close to $250. This is Tx though, I've heard pretty much everything costs more in Cali.

Here in NY it`s 3 points for a speeding ticket.
Anything 12 mph over posted limit then you insurance goes up.
I had to pay over 300.00 almost 20 yrs. ago for one.

And you just moved there!!!

Tickets for speeding in my country...0

You can do 21 in a 15 or 140 on an 80...nobody cares...until you hit a pothole, then YOU will care.

From what I understand there aren't many IF any laws that cap what a city/town/township can charge for a traffic violation. Looks like many towns are taking advantage of it.

They are cruising that area big time because of all the road work. I stay away from it as much as possible.

Giving out tickets on 41 is like shooting fish in a rain barrel. Seriously everybody does the 15 over on 41. Cop was Prolly surprised you spoke English.

where I am from if you drive 50kmh or 35mph over the limit it is now considered racing / stunt / dangerous driving, and the fine is get this 10,000.00 and your vehicle is towed on the spot and license suspended for 7 days, after the 7 days you have to pay the impound fees, then a lawyer to try and have the fine reduced. Then your insurance premium goes thru the roof.
