Default R&R forks

This might seem like a dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyways. While I'm waiting for my Progressive Springs And shop manual to arrive I'm just trying to get as much information as I can. When putting the forks back into the trees How do you know if they're far enough into the trees? Is there Some sort of stops On the forks?

The SM tells you how much of a gap there should be measured from the top fork cap to the top triple tree.

I was kind of thinking that. I'll take a couple different measurements before I take them out.

When I put mine back in, I did a better job than HD did - they were not even.

Highly recommend the Ricor Intiminators if you already have the forks off. If you were ever thinking about fork boots, nows the time too.
