2005 fxdc carb popping after re-jet
I just added vance and hines slip ons and vance and hines vo2 air kit, I re-jetted whith a 180 main and a 48 piot. I was just on a ride it was about 75 degrees, and I had problems with popping through carb (with smoke) when I would start it when it was warmed up, some times would pop when idling and taking off. I seem to be lost on what it might be. I turned the mixture screw in but it did not want to stall, seemed to idle better. I can sure use some good advise ! thanks

dynojet kit is a kit that comes with different jets , a new slide spring and needle, some folk like them and some don't, here is a link to tuning your carb

Your bike is popping cuz u used the wrong jets,
u need a 50-52 Pilot and a 190-195 Main
Dont use that Dynojet kit, I have been jetting carbs for 20 years and they r junk. Just get HD jets at dealer.

I've got a 95" kit and 203 cams on my 02 FXD. Stock 45 pilot jet and 190 main, installed the Sportster needle and turned out the mix to 2 3/4 to 3 turns. A little cold blooded now that fall is in the air but real nice when it's warm in the afternoons. No carb farts. an alternative to the needle would be raise yours with two #4 brass washers. A real inexpensive mod.

Completely agree. I'm running a 195 main & 50 slow, & stock needle with 2 #4 brass washers to raise it up, on an '04 TC88A that is totally stock except for a DK Customs 587 AC. Won't run worth a nickel on any thing less; runs a scalded cat with this setup, with needle at 3 turns out..

Posted this on another thread for EVO, so my apologies for the double but I am in a quandary about my CV. Bought the rebuild kit from CV Performance and hated the results ever since doing so. Throttle pops on decal nearly every time. Adjusted the idle mix screw (which eventually fell out, so I re-installed the original) to no avail. Eventually conceded defeat and just rode with the pops. The missus bought be a Roland Sands air cleaner and shortly thereafter my girl starts with some serious hesitation on accel. A couple of shops suggested that tuning was the issue and one said install a Dynojet due to the increase in airflow.
Any thoughts or recommends? I still have the other jets included in the CV rebuild kit, would those come in handy? Parts Eeter, any jet recommendations? Suggestions?
