3rd cracked rear fender on my 2010 Street Bob, this time the warranty is over. Has this happened to anyone else after the warranty has expired and did HD replace the fender? I'm pissed to say the least.

 

That sucks! Sorry to hear that. Where is the crack? Also, are they all same area?

 

Once you do get a rear fender.. get the license plate off of it. Get a side mount . I put my plate on a side mount as soon as I heard about the fender problem and knock on wood, so far no fender cracking.

 

HD should still replace it since it was an issue while still under warranty

 

in summer of 2012 they added some support to the fender to fix it, did you get the newest model fender with extra support? if your dealer denies free fender call the corporate harley warranty department, your fender will get replaced.

 

You have a good history of the thing chitting itself so you should be able to get it replaced for free....

 

Thanks for the replies, all three cracks are in the same area of the fender, next to the tail light. I think my last one was before the summer of 2012. I'll be giving the dealership a call tomorrow.

 

Seems like parts replaced under warranty should have a warranty of their own..like one year?
How about welding a gusset or reinforcement to the area where the crack develops?

 

The newer replacements have a beef-up plate.

 

Mine split around 5k. New one was warrantied and has a fat bead along the edge. No problems since and have 20K on her.
