Default WG tire selection sucks

Does anyone know of a rear tire other than the $320 stock michelin scorcher that will fit on my wide glide? I have searched around and I have looked at the commander II which doesn't have the right size for the rear and I looked at the pirelli night dragon which is the right size but it is tubeless. What are you guys with wide glides running? Edit: I just did a search on J&P for the size and the only one that came up was the night dragon.

Uhmm - the stock Scorcher is a tubless tire too. You can use a tubeless tire with a tube.

Yeah, Pirelli makes a night Dragon in 180/60R17, they also make a 90/90R21 front if you like to match. The Pirelli rears are usually about $180.. give or take.

Sorry, I misunderstood that you already looked... What the other poster said is true, you can put a tube in a tubeless tire.

Keep in mind that you don't have to find an exact replacement. You could use a 170/60-17 or a 180/55-17 or a 200/55-17. It's already known that a 200 will fit a Fat Bob and a Wide Glide, they use the same frame/swingarm. You can also vary the ratio number to find a tire you like. Just keep an eye on the actual diameter of the tire. It should match as close as possible to stock, but as your tire wears down the diameter changes anyway. The diameter will affect the accuracy of your speedometer, but like I said that changes anyway as the tread is used up.

I've been running a 200 night dragon for almost 4k miles on the stock rim problem free. One day I'll get a wider rim but they should have come with one and a 200 tire from the factory IMO

I went down a size from stock for the MCII's. Could have gone up in size from stock as well to get the same brand but personally felt more comfortable going the other way.

How does it look with a narrower tire? Do you have any pics?

Hey guys I have been looking for a good all around tire for spirited riding. I ride my bike 30 miles round trip to "work" and then all over town, and the north side of DFW metro. I would like something that is grippy and isn't going to break the bank. I don't mean to intrude on Air Force Dyna Guy. thanks in advance!
