Thanks for posting that. My dad has a 2009 ultra classic and my mom has a 2009 triglide.

The article was published Monday, Oct. 24 2011 so there is a strong probability that those impacted would have received notifications and had the issue corrected.

Owners were notified and work done long time ago.

The brake switch was unchanged since 1951. When the exhaust crossed under starting in 2009, it was too hot for it.

EVERY owner? You can't tell for sure! What about overseas costumers? I'm pretty sure people here where I live haven't been notified by the local (and ONLY) dealer...

Does the recall mean H-D dealers have to replace the parts for free?

More relevant news is the recall of 29,000 2014 Touring models including Trikes and CVO bikes. In effect is a "Do Not Ride" and a "Do Not Sell" notice to owners and dealers.

The rear brake light switch recall was 2 years ago. Notices were mailed to all purchasers of the affected bikes and replacement switches were available to the dealers. Old news! The real news is the latest recall notice as of yesterday. Not so much that there was a recall as was the fact that the MOCO issued a DO NOT RIDE notice for the affected bikes. THAT IS A HUGE DEAL!
