Default Reduced reach kit for forwards

I just put the reduced reach kit on my 07 Low Rider and it is just what I needed. But the brake pedal is still to high and I have no more adjustment. The threads on the end of the brake rod are not run down all the way to the main rod , it has about 3/4" of the rod not threaded. I was going to run my die down and add more threads so I took a tap and checked the size with the lock nut and it is 5/16" X 24 and the 5/16 X24 die will not work on the rod. It seems as though it wants to cut new threads. Does anybody know if it is 5/ 16 x 24 or is it metric. I do not want to screw it up , it cost me $144 for the kit. Does anybody have a 07 Low Rider parts book . It might tell you in there.
Thanks Clap
