So I just picked up a Sundowner Seat from Ebay. It was listed to fit my 03, but turns out, its for an 06-12.

I was looking, and the only thing that looks wrong, is the metal tab where it mounts up front. It seems like if it was 2 inches back it would fit.

It looks like its only held in by rivets. Has anyone tried grinding them off and moving them back two inches, and re-rivet the tab?

Im probably just going to end up selling the seat and looking for the right one, but this seems like it would work

 

It should work. you may have to modify the tab itself, but I can't be sure of that can I? I would try grinding out the rivet and lay the seat in it's place. if it snugs up to the tank and the hole lines up on the rear fender you should be good to go! But first of all try leaning it on a higher angle to get the tab in. i have a sundowner and it requires a little extra effort to get it in there.

 

What kind of Sundowner seat did you get? I may be interested in buying it.

 

Its the HD one that has the back for a passenger. Im not sure if that answers your question? I'd sell it if you were interested. I'd rather just buy the right one than modify this one
