Default '12 FXDWG Front Suspension advice.

I posted this in the suspension forum as well but I figured I would ask here as well. So with the riding season coming to a close I am going to be doing some more work on the bike. I am thinking about replacing the Wide Glide trees with Fat Bob trees to lose the 2 degrees of rake built in. In doing so, I am going to need to shorten the fork tubes by two inches. My question is how much performance am i going to lose out of the front end if instead of installing new 2 inch shorter tubes and internals i use a 2" lowering kit such as the one from progressive? Thanks guys

I have thought about this as well. Would like to know as I have the springs for the front just have not installed them yet. Although I may be interested in selling the springs.

Right on. You have lowering springs? What kind did ya go with? If ya want to part with them let me know.

I bought a Burly kit for a SB because they do not make one specific for the WG. It comes with spacers for the front so you can adjust the height you want. I put the rears on and can't decide on the front.

Just curious, why would you buy a wide glide if you didn't like the raked forks?
Along with the skinny tire in the front, it just doesn't handle s good as the other dyna's and most people that bu it know that but just fall in love with the look because of the raked forks.

Rooti, I bought the bike because I love how it looks. 2 degrees of rake will be a subtle looking difference on a bike with 34 degrees from the factory. I just want something different and to improve handling a bit.

Don't get me wrong. I love my bike. I was just thinking about something different.

So are you looking at improving the handling or do you want to change the looks?

Both actually. Change the look and improve handling.

for performance I installed ricor intimidators. Helped the front end to feel more solid no matter what road surfaces I went over but won't change the apperance
