So, I am looking for compatibility information on the standard style Harley Davidson Tail Lights. I have found so many tail lights that say they fit a 2001 Dyna FXDXT and not a 2000 FXDX?

I was under the impression that all of the Harley Tail Lights of this style were the same, except some of them had a license plate light on the bottom.

I have found the tail light lens that I want but it doesnt include a 2000 Super Glide yet it fits an 01?

It is the same one that 128Auto used on his 07 Street Bob. My bike is a 2000 Super Glide. Below is a pic of my tail light. Would any of you fellas in the know, confirm or deny if this will fit my 2000 Super Glide?

 

I thought they were the same from 99 up to current. I know when I ordered mine from custom dynamics they had it listed from 99 and up

 

I thought they had a long run of being the same tail light.

 

Oh yeah, I dont run turn signals so that really doesnt matter to me.

 

Well, I went ahead and bought one. I guess i will find out. In the print below the fitment chart it said it fits 2001 FXDXT so I figured it was worth a try.

 

I have seen a difference in tail lights. I bought a used fixture to replace my wife's cracked tail light on her 2001 Lowrider and it looked the same. When I went to install, the shape of the slot where the bulb inserted was different. Hers was oval, and the one I picked up was round with notches. The tail light fixture screwed in and looked perfect, but the bulb would not fit. I would have never thought to check the shape of the hole where the bulb is inserted. No problem, I took it back to the used parts place and they swapped it out. Was an eye opener, though.

 

It should fit.

 

Since this tail light is a LED conversion I dont think the bulb fitment will be applicable. I will post results once I attempt install.
