Default Noise in 2006 Super Glide Primary??

My friend said he is getting a noise in the primary so he dropped if off at my garage while he is still working. I popped of the cover and nothing looked out of the ordinary except this roll pin almost out. Any ideas?

Here is a picture:

Wow, something coming off a Harley or coming loose? Go figure!

Looks to be part of the chain tensioner, bash that damn pin back in with a sledge hammer!

Probably making the tensioner make noise (or, more than the USUAL noise).

Good advice when you have no clue what you're talking about. Hit it with a hammer!!

The roll pin is supposed to be there just like that. An '06? How many miles? Most likely the inner primary bearing. Loud with clutch out in neutral and goes away when kicked into gear? Put it back together, verify that's what it is then bring it to a dealer that knows what they're doing and it will be covered by Harley. Most likely needs the whole trans case replaced. Do the stator/rotor update while in there.

Well my friend dropped by after work and he fired it up to let me hear the noise. It sounded like a rod knocking! He has a warranty so it's off to the dealer in the morning.

For a rod knock sound I'd guess the 2 piece bolt together stator rotor/compensator spring cup came apart. The bolts back out. New style is welded together. Sounds a lot like a rod knock when this happens.
