Default saddlebag supports???

I ordered some bag supports and got them today. The are Drag Specialties brand. Price was good, quality seems OK, just don''t like the way they are supposed to fit and look. You have to replace the factory tail light support with a hollow round bar,( after you cut the tail light wires), run the wires back through the round bar, hook the lights back up, yada yada yada. Looks cheezy as hell to me. Now instead of the factory tail lights, I got this crappy looking POS round bar holding my tail light on. Any one use these? I'm thinking eat the 20% restocking fee and send them back.

Well, that's just the way it is. It's a bitch pulling the wire through the spacer hole. The good news is you wont even notice it if you buy nice bags. The thing that took me getting used to is how far out the brackets push the bag. I use zip ties to attach my bag but they kinda look like alfalfa ears. I could not live without them though.

My WG is an anniversary model and I really wanted to keep it pretty much original if possible. I hate the round bar tail light mounts that come with the supports. Do they look OK or are they pretty funky looking. I guess my bike isn't original anyway, its got a custom paint job. Maybe "mostly" original. I'm thinking about fabbing up some of my own design.

I couldn't use them and keep the quick release set-up . . . found throw over bags from Fox Creek Leather that work OK without the supports. They rubbed some paint off of the 'chain guard', but I've repainted it a couple of times with rattle can wrinkle paint and it comes out good as new each time.

I posted this link for supports in your other thread. Very easy install,no mods needed. Easy on, easy off when you want to take the bags off. They work just fine with my throw overs http://www.ebay.com/itm/Detachable-M...53876d&vxp=mtr....They were 48 bucks when I bought them a little over a year ago,,,inflation I guess,,,,

Guess I missed this. Thanks HarleyBob, I'll check these out some more.

I looked at these and was curious as to how they mount. It says with existing fender bolts?? Are they stable? Is that correct?

Easy to mount, just loosen the front strut/fender bolt and slip them behind and tighten back . I was able to ziptie the bags to the bracket. Everything stays in place very good. I did put a rubber washer between the bracket and the strut to make sure it didn't get scratched.

I don't do e-bay or the pay-pal thing but have friends that do so maybe I'll get them to order them for me. Thanks again for the tip!!
