I was given a set of apes and cables but it looks like the cable kit is for a later dyna model. Any idea what I would need to do to make them work? I have an '05 FXDI.

Hmm, don't think there would be a problem, but I'm not sure. But I bet a call to the manufacturer could answer those questions. Otherwise you could pass them off to me and I will take care of them for ya!

 

HD introduced easy pull clutch mechanisms on 2006 Dyna's onwards, so the clutch cable wouldn't fit yours. Not that it matters, as Burly clutch cables are junk anyway. (Very 'grabby' and dry feeling, outer sheath showing cracks after less than a week on the bike) Everything else in the kit would fit yours, but get a new clutch cable for your model, somewhere other than Burly. I've just gone through the same thing & waiting on one from Magnum Shielding, about 80 bucks or so. Easy enough for you to swallow seeing as everything else was free!
