Default Triple tree swap

So I'm finally swapping out my wide glide trees for fat bob trees. Anyone ever remove the front forks from the trees and not take off the front tire, brakes and fender? In other words just remove the front forks from the trees as a unit. I'm thinking my only problem might be jockeying the front handlebars around to accommodate the front brake movement, or maybe my jack won't lift the bike high enough to get the tube out of the lower tree. Any ideas?

Yeah, I was just thinking if I pulled it as a unit I wouldn't have to remove the caliper, front axle and fork lower dropouts and fender.

Its doable but its much harder on the reassembly, just take your time and pull it apart less chance of scratching or messing something up..

I got the forks taken out in one piece. It was actually really easy. I guess my brake line being long really helped. Got it done in about 45 mins, and was surprised that it only raised the front end by 3/4". I pushed 1/4" of the fork tubes up above the top tree. Gotta take it for a ride tomorrow.
