Default Longer cables/wires for mini apes?

I've got a set of mini apes that I'm thinking about putting on - wondering if I'm going to need longer cables/wires. I can't find any that are for apes this short, so I'm thinking maybe not, but I don't want to get it all apart and then find out I'm wrong.

Talking about something like this:

I put street bob mini apes on my WideGlide and didn't need to change cables or wiring...

Cheers...Sparra

I don't really know about the WG...I thought they all came with mini-apes...but when I changed out the bars on the 01 SG, I had to extend the wiring and change the throttle cables and brake line, and the clutch cable was long enough but there was just too little slack with the bars turned to the right limit for my liking so I changed it also...

How much longer did you need to extend them?

I bought the 10 inch wire extender kit from the dealer for something like $20. The wires had the contacts crimped in place on one end ready to insert into the connectors and heat shrink for solder splicing the other.

Great, thanks. How much longer were the throttle cables and break line? 10" also?

I bought the OEM handle bars, wire extender kit, throttle and clutch cables, and all the gaskets and hardware for a 2002 Wide Glide from my local dealer as a package deal for just under $300. They could not locate the brake line and could only back order one with an unknown delivery date. I cancelled that order and I got a used brake line also for a Wide Glide off of eBay for $25. I am not sure exactly how much longer they were, probably around 6 inches or so. Even with the longer cables, I still could not route the throttle cables through the triple trees without them pulling too tight for my liking when the bars were full left.

I am in the same boat. My wife has a 2009 FXD Super Glide with the dreadful OEM buckhorn bars - I think Harley puts these on bikes to drive parts and accessory sales.

We went and sat on all the Dyna models today and she likes the mini apes the best. Bars are not that expensive but I am trying to determine if I need new cables....and now possibly wiring.

So who has done the buckhorn to ape swap and what did you have to do?
