Default 16" Wheels Done!

Finally got some mods done including 16" wheels with a 130/90 front and 180/65 rear. Big thanks to wag_oh_neer for answering my questions with the wheels.

Also swapped the rear fender for the 2013 fender and added the C&C Sport Tour Seat.

Picture of the bike as I got it:

With the new wheels:

Very nice! I have thought about swapping my rear wheel/tire for a 16 inch rear wheel/tire because those 17 inch rear tires are expensive. Not sure which 16 inch wheels/tires would be a direct swap without changing rotors or belt pulleys though.

I would also like to know what rear wheel you used/built. I re-laced a 16 X 5.00 rim from a modern Road King to my Dyna hub. Just wondering if you found something easier.

I did the same. Ordered the 16 x 5.00 rim from a 2009+ road king classic from surdyke. I ordered stainless spokes from HD Wheels and laced them to my hub. The front is a 16 x 3.00 I found on ebay since they are much more common. I wasn't able to find any 16 x 5.00 rims on ebay.

For those interested, the front fits right in there with the new rim/tire sizes. The only "modification" I did was add some lock washers to the fender bolts. This bought me another 1/8th inch between the end of the bolts and the tire. It wasn't making contact but it was a little closer than I liked it.

The rear set up got tight with the new wheel size. I was able to get everything together by leaving the rotor loose so I could get the caliper on. Once everything was in I went back and torqued the rotor bolts.

The front end is MUCH more stable with the 130 tire up front.

It is tight putting the rear wheel on. I also left the rotor loose the first time but thereafter I leave the brake caliper disconnected from the bracket. Then for removal I just remove the brake caliper first.
