iirc, you can't do a kick start with a fuel injected bike. Reason can be logically determined as follows: you have to have power to the ecu and fuelpump in order for it to provide fuel to the cyls and fire the spark plugs... the kickstart won't work without the battery working too, and if you're going to have the battery charged, why not just use the electric starter?

Unless I'm missing the point of an "ornamental" kickstart?

Good point thanks I didn't think about it. I have a Carb bike as well and it slipped my mind that the 07 is fuel injected. That would throw people's mind though.

christoph, when I started ridin my ownHDs in 1965,
I don't think we even had the option of a push button starter
for about four more years.

A kickstart is simply nostalgia now, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm too old, and unless I am somehow lucky enough to hook up
with a long legged and acrobatic young playgirl, it's a moot point.

However, it would certainly be amusing to go back again.
At one time I did have a goilfriend like that.

The other guys would be so proud, their gals were rollin up joints,
gettin em a beer, andlookin pretty.

When it came time to roll, I'd send Nancy out to start up the scoot.
She was real good at it. Usually fire on the second kick.

But, please explain your "logic".

On my 06 SuperGlide, the ecu and fuelpump
are activated when I turn the key.

I even reread your keystrokes quoted above,
and I still don't get it.
What am I missing??

Electric starter motor - kickstart power.
Key on - go.

Hey Mud...

I love nostalgia - but I'm be perfectly honest with you - I'm a youngin' and I've never owned a bike with a kickstart. On the other hand, I've never owned a skidoo with electric start either. Part of the nostalgic fun of snowmobiling for me is that 20 minutes in -30 you spend cursin' like a diseased sailor. But I digress...

I guess I figured if one was to put a kicker on a bike, it would be to save the weight of the battery and starter? Without the battery the ecu and fuel pump wouldn't work. No amount of kicking would juice the computer enough to fire the coils and injectors, nor would it spin the fuel pump. But if the battery stays in (and the factory electric start) I don't see why it wouldn't work, but in all honesty I don't see the point. Getting a longlegged babe to start the bike is cool though . Just picturing it... mmmm....

^^^ That last part is just opinion - everyone should march to their own drummer.

I guess I'll leave this one alone!!!!!!!!!!

My mother always told me "ifyou don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all". I think this might be one of those times.

2007streetbob you need to make your signature pic a little smaller. It's too big.

So then back on subject. After I slept on it I can turn the key on hit the run botton and kick start and it should work. Maybe Right? I think Yes I wanted to keep the electric start just in case my leg started to hurt or if I stalled my bike in front of a light. I've had that happen before on a older kickstart bike and when you have a bunch of cars behind you your bike starts on the first kick, but not this time.

Maybe I should convert the 07SB to Carb. Take out the battery and electric starter and use the battery box to house a compressor for air shocks. Hell by the time I do all that I could probably just buy a older kick start harley

They make kits for fuel injected sport quads to be kick starts and fuel injected snowmobiles with pull starts. So I know it can be done just don't know how to do it.
