Default Which Tire?

The weather here was pretty shitty, but I decided to try and get a short ride in this afternoon.. big mistake. I ended up with a hex screw in my rear tire about 40 miles in.

Which leads me to my question... of these, which tire would you recommend?

Dunlop K591 160/70B17
Michelin Commander II 160/70B17
Avon Storm 2 Ultra Sport 160/70R17
Bridgestone Battlax BT-020 160/70B17

I know there are more preferred tires, but these are the ones I can afford right now. I'm trying to pick one up tomorrow, so let me know.

Thanks,

Zach

Had the same thing happen last summer with 400 miles on new k591. Put another k591 on and it has about 4500 miles now. Looks more than half gone. My guess is 7-8000 miles is max. Have a friend with michelen's and looks like they are still new with 3,000. The k591 looks better and looks wider than the michelins. I am pleased with the grip of the dun lops , but I am going to try avons next time.

I am running the Michelin's and really like them over stock. Haven't tried the others you have listed.

Michelin Pilot Road 3 was not on your list but is an affordable option, $164.90 for 170/60ZR-17 rear and $153.99 for 110/80R-19

When my stock Dunlop wore out I tried the Avon. Liked it well enough that the next tire was the Storm 2. No complaints, I really like how it handles, so for now I'm sticking with the Avons.

I ran a K591 and it had the same handling characteristics and wear as the Michelin scorcher I had previously. Both should have been changed out around 7,000. Im going with the Michelin CII next

Michelin or Dunlops would be my choice.

If you don't like changing tires all the time get the Michelin Commander II's. I have eleven thousand miles on mine and they still have deep tread. I know what you mean by those sheet metal screws, that is what did me in on my first set of tires. The only problem I have with them is they don't come with raised white lettering.
